Crafting for Chaseton: Hats

You may remember these hats that I made for Chaseton:

I decided to spruce them up a bit and personalize them for him!
I found knitted applique "C"s on Etsy along with a football and basketball and added them to his hats!

I think they turned out really good and I can't wait to share them with him!

I am totally aware that he will be born in the heat of summer and he probably won't wear them that long.

Atleast they are stretchy and will provide plenty of air to his head while he wears them the first few weeks of his life. I am on the lookout for some summer ball caps that he can wear while we are outside, to shade him from the sun.

Many of my family and friends know about my goal to donate 15-20 knitted hats to the babies that are born at the hospital or the babies that have been re-admitted to the hospital. I've contacted the NewLife center and they are very grateful for my desire to donate hats to their nursery. I'm just glad that I can help bring a smile to the parents of new babies! I am well on my way to my goal and should have no problem completing them. I made these tags to attach to the hats today.

Picnic Tradition

Picnics have been a big tradition in our family since Jaelyn was little. We love to go on picnics and we do so atleast once a week as soon as the weather is nice. It makes for an easy lunch or supper with easy clean-up and the girls love eating outside on a comfortable blanket.

We have our favorite picnic spots, most of which are nestled in Gage Park.
They always keep Gage Park looking beautiful so the scenery while we are eating is one of the best parts.

They love waiting for the park train to come by as we are eating our picnic meal.

Part of our view.

Jaelyn smelling the flowers right by one of our favorite spots.

Finlee wanted a turn too!

Together.

Since were right inside Gage Park, we usually let the girls play on a nearby playground.

Or we might even take a walk around the ponds or flower beds full or tulips or roses.

A picnic is one of the easiest traditions that you can take up with your family. It doesn't take much effort and its such a fun experience to share with your children. Make an easy, sandwich meal and let your children choose their favorite spot! Go out on a picnic and do it often! Your whole family will love you for it. I can't wait for my children to look back on this simple tradition and remember how peaceful and fun it was and to share it with their own kids someday!

Photo Booth

Finlee had a rough morning the other day. Everything seemed to be going wrong for her and her feelings were hurt. She immediately ran to Jaelyn to see if her "sissy" could take away her misery. I'm pretty sure big sis got the job done just right!

Feeding the Giraffes

Matt received a coupon for one free giraffe feeding at our local zoo so we decided to take the girls to feed the giraffes today! It was a neat experience!

The giraffes get up close and personal with you and are very gentle.

Out of the three giraffes, the girls decided to feed the new baby giraffe.

Finlee's turn feeding the giraffe.

Jaelyn's turn.

She needed some assistance from Matt. She wasn't too sure about the giraffe being so close.

Giraffe feedings are scheduled at the Topeka Zoo on Saturdays, Sundays, and Tuesdays at 1:30pm. Each feeding cost $1, which is for one piece of lettuce or one giraffe feeding.

27 Weeks!

I am officially 27 weeks preggo with Chaseton..and I cannot believe it!

27 weeks, 3 days

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 27 Weeks (+3 days)

Size of baby: Chaseton is the size of a head of cauliflower.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I'm really not too sure. My estimated guess is around 12 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Maternity jeans and pants but I just love wearing T-shirts.

Gender: Boy! Chaseton Matthew. :)

Movement: He moves a lot but I still don't feel like he moves as much as my girls did.

Sleep: I sleep really good! Matt is great about letting me sleep in and making sure that I am comfortable.

What I miss: Just feeling normal. I've had a few rough weeks emotionally but my doctor said that its totally normal. Other than that, I am just peachy.

Cravings: Strawberry shakes, chocolate, cereal, and Subway.

Symptoms: Tired, moody, emotional, and excited! I finally feel like I am beginning to look like a pregnant gal. People have been noticing now and that makes me happy!

Best Moment this week: Feeling him move, mostly. I also had a really good doctor appointment this week! I am really starting to love my doctor! (If you remember, at the end of my pregnancy with Finlee, I had to choose a different doctor because my doctor left the office that I was going to. I ended up just going to the "new" doctor that they had recommended me to since I was so far along.) At first I wasn't sure but now she is so helpful and kind and I am very thankful for her!
She confirmed some of my feelings about my pregnancy this week and she also scheduled my c-section. So unless my specialist says otherwise or Chaseton decides to come early, our boy has a birthday! :) We're not sharing the date quite yet..but soon enough, we will. My titer "score" has also dropped and my titer "count" is also staying low! We're so thankful for the prayers and know that they are working!

Texas Baby

Matt bought me this shirt for my birthday. It says, "Everybody Loves A Texas Baby!" with a longhorn on it. Its so cute! My pictures are blurry and backwards because I had to take them myself in the mirror, but you get the point. :)

Less than 12 weeks left until we meet our new little man! I can't wait to hold him, see what he looks like, and for Matt to have a new friend around!

Loving

What I'm loving right now:

Park Time.
One of my favorite things about Spring is that we can finally get out of the house after a long Winter. Parks are a normal part of our routine when the weather is nice outside. We have our favorite playgrounds and we call them by color. The purple park and the yellow park happen to be our favorites. There are so many parks here around Topeka that we love discovering new ones to try out!

This particular park happens to be a "new-to-us" park that my friend, Amanda, told us about.
The girls love it.

Swinging together.

Finlee has always loved to swing.

Playing at the park is one of our favorite things to do as a family. We spend a lot of hours playing at our local parks!

Sleepy-Time.
There's nothing worse than having a sick baby. You wish you could take away all their pain and misery. To relieve some of that, there's always sleepy, snuggle time and I love it. If my children are or are going to be sick, there is nothing better than laying around the house, snuggling on the couch, and watching their favorite cartoon. Its a precious time when they will actually hold still long enough to love on them.

Finlee happened to be sick a day or so this week and we shared a lot of sleepy-time.

My Cowgirl.
I remember when I was little and in my Grandma's closet there was a hat, just like this one of the girls', except it had a blue Sheriff's badge on the front. I played with it a lot at her house, as did my brothers and cousins. From Cops and Robbers to Cowboys and Indians, we did it all with that hat.

When I seen Finlee put on this similar hat, it took me back. She loves wearing hats. And she also happens to be one of the cutest cowgirls around.

Jaelyn.
I still cannot believe she is four-years-old. She is growing by leaps and bounds. We had a conversation just a few days ago about what she wanted to be when she grew up and I could hardly believe I was already having that conversation with her. For the record, she wants to be Jessie the cowgirl. I told her she would make the best darn cowgirl I have ever seen and I would be so proud of her.
(Especially with her cutie-patootie sister as her accomplice.)

Since the talk of new baby Chaseton has come about, Jaelyn has been asking so many questions about when she was a baby. What did I look like? How old was I when I was born? Did you really call me princess, mama? Its hard to answer those questions sometimes because I feel like she should still be my baby. When I first found out I was pregnant with Jaelyn, I just knew I wanted to have a boy. I wanted my future daughters to have older brothers, just like I have. And now that I have received a taste of God's plan, to let me experience sisterhood through my girls, I couldn't be happier that I have Jaelyn. My princess. I am so thankful that she was the blessing that made me a mom.

She posed herself for this picture. Proud mama, right here.

Jaelyn challenges me more than she knows but I will always love her for that. For making me a better mom and wife and for loving me through the process of raising her. And for making me a mom, just four years ago.

Finlee.
She's my little rascal. She is as ornery as can be but I love that about her. I love her giggles, her smile, and her sweet, happy personality. Most of all, I love that she's my baby. She doesn't seem to be growing up quite as fast as her sister did and I am perfectly fine with that. She still counts on me for most things and its hard to teach her to learn on her own. Her presence is enough to make me smile or to turn my day around and I love that she still melts my heart.

She didn't want much to do with pictures on this day. She still looks adorable!

The Colors of Spring.
You can consider "Tulip Time" my favorite time of year. When the tulips start to bloom around Topeka, I am just in awe. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers (along with daisies) and their colors are magical and breathtaking. There are tulip festivals to be had around here and lots of picture opportunities in which you can most definitely count me in! Throw them together with my favorite season and you have a match made in heaven! :)

Hats.
She loves them. Anytime, anywhere she can wear a hat, she will.

She's precious!

Her love for him.
Finlee loves her daddy. She asks me everyday, at least a thousand times, "Where's Daddy?". This whole last year of her life, she has been singing, "Where is Daddy?". I love how she lights up when he walks through the door. I love how, sometimes, only he can fix her broken heart. And I love how he loves her back. I can only pray that one day, she will find someone who loves her as much as her daddy does (which is close to impossible) and that she can love them back just as much as well. To be a witness to their bond is something special that I will cherish forever.

Belize Dresses.
My Aunt brought the girls back dresses from Belize. I love authentic souvenirs. They are beautiful and unique and I love them!

Our collection of dresses from different countries keeps growing. I love that family and friends think about our girls while their away vacationing. We now have dresses from Belize, Spain, and Mexico along with many other souvenirs from other countries as well. These are the types of things that I love to share with the girls as they get older, especially the love behind them.

My Girls. Sisters.
They don't always get along but they love each other. I see them play together so well and laugh at each other constantly. I love seeing their bond and I love sharing it with them. I will always be grateful to God for pairing them as sisters. What a beautiful thing!

Enjoy!
