Interview with Jaelyn

A few blogs that I read have been interviewing their small kids with these simple questions to see what they would say. I wanted to do it with Jaelyn so I can see how her answers change over time. I thought it was a fun way to see how she answers the different questions.

What is your name? Jaelyn
How old are you? Four
What is your favorite color? Purple and Brown
Who is your best friend? Brogan and Isaias and Jake
(Brogan and Isaias go to our church and Jaelyn went to preschool with them. Jake is our neighbor.)
What is your favorite animal? A giraffe
(She loves to visit the giraffes at the zoo!)
What do you want to be when you grow-up? A mom
(Talk about a proud moment!)
What is your favorite movie? Nemo (Finding Nemo)
What is your favorite book? Rio
(We found a book at the library that comes from the movie Rio.)
What makes you happy? Laughs and Tickles
What makes you sad? Cry and when you yell at me.
What is your favorite food to eat? Chicken and rice and noodles.
What is your favorite song to sing? ABCs
What games do you like to play? Candyland and Daddy's game.

Life

Life in the Pollock household is going good. We're having a lot of fun as a family of 5!

-Chaseton is three weeks old today! (Thursday, July 28th) He's growing by the minute it seems. I love being a mom to a boy! The girls love him and so do we. I really couldn't imagine life without him. He is starting to change, talk, and smile. He is such a good baby so I think we'll keep him! :)

-Jaelyn is a big help to me during the day! She loves to get stuff for Chaseton and help me hold him. We're adjusting slowly to having a little brother but she is constantly talking about him and making sure he's okay. She loves to sing songs to him, too! When it comes to Finlee, she has a hard time being a little mommy. She even tells me, "I'm the little mommy!". They play so well together but they do have their moments. She really is a great big sister!
She is still making us laugh with everything she says and does. Even when she's in trouble, its hard to discipline her because she says something that makes us laugh. She's growing fast and its hard to believe in just a year, she'll be starting school full-time. She is learning so much every single day. I'm always amazed by her!

-Finlee is my happy girl. She seems to be adjusting fairly well. She is a perfect combination of onery and sweet. She has the funniest personality and I can already tell she has her daddy's sense of humor. She loves to laugh, sing, talk, and cheeeese for the camera. She brings a joy to our house that is so different from Jaelyn and Chaseton. She's my baby girl and I hate how fast she's growing.

Life is busy around here. Matt is back to work full-time and is getting ready to start the last of his classes. I'm just loving my kids and being a wife. We're excited with where we are in life and we can't wait to spend it with our three beautiful children.

My Kids

Here are a few updated pictures of my kiddos! I have been enjoying my day with them today. We're still adjusting but doing well. We have a busy week ahead but we're looking forward to a great weekend to come! I realize most of these pictures are of Chaseton, but he's the only one that will still hold still for me!

He's growing so much right before our eyes. And I don't like it one bit!
I wish he would stay small forever!

She loves to say Cheeeeese! really big.

My boy.

Jaelyn. I bought this shirt for her before Chaseton was born because I knew she would love it.
It says, "I'll trade my brother for a cupcake!" :)

She's so sassy!

Big cheese again!

Hanging with daddy!

Sleeping beauty.

Enjoy the pictures!

Chaseton

Chaseton Matthew is here!
He was born July 7, 2011 at 10:20am. He weighed in at 7lbs, 11oz and was 20 1/4 inches long!
We're home, adjusting, and doing well.

Here's Chaseton:

At 6:15am Thursday morning, Matt and I headed to the hospital. My surgery was scheduled for 8:15am.

I ended up donating 15 knitted hats in Chaseton's name to the NICU at St. Francis Health Center.
They we're very thankful for my donation!

Favors for our visitors. Hershey's bars and kisses.

As soon as I arrived at the hospital, they monitored Chaseton and I and got us all prepared for surgery. Around 7:30, my nurse came in and said that my doctor was running behind and another mom-to-be might have to have an emergency c-section. I understood because I immediately knew how the other mom was feeling, seeing as how I was in her situation with Jaelyn just four short years ago. We waited patiently to see when our surgery would be. Soon after, our nurse came back to our room to let us know that my surgery wouldn't be until noon because my doctor would be doing three c-sections before mine. I wasn't so fond of my surgery not being until noon, but I knew that I would meet Chaseton some time during the day so I tried to keep an open mind. I was in the bathroom when my nurse stopped by again to inform us that we would be having a baby right away! My doctor changed her schedule and was there to do my surgery!

They took me to the operating room, did my spinal block, and laid me down. I was waiting for Matt to enter the room when I heard the doctor say, "I don't feel comfortable performing this surgery here." I had no idea what was going on. The anesthesia ladies told my doctor that she needed to hurry and make a decision because my spinal tap wasn't going to last very long. Long story short, they found a gnat in the room and had to start prepping their tools and myself from the very beginning. The only problem was, I had already had my spinal block and time was ticking. As soon as they got everything under control, they brought Matt into the room. By the end of my surgery, I could move my feet and feel a lot more than I should have.
But the end result was well worth it.

Welcome Chaseton:

Chaseton is such a good baby! He sleeps and eats so well.

We're resting and doing well at home. Recovery has been easier this time around and for that I am so thankful. We love having a little boy around!
