Memories...

The other night, Tanna and I got home from spending a wonderful evening with my parents and we were both very tired.  We went straight to bed but we were at the point where we were soooo tired that we could not sleep.  Somehow our conversation went to childhood memories and I began telling Tanna about so many of my childhood memories; the good ones and the bad..   One particular memory I had as a child was one that I had never ever told anybody.  It was something that was  unimportant so it wasn't like I was hiding it on purpose from Tanna.  But as I began telling her this story of when I was young I began to chuckle a little bit.  It's funny how that happens to you sometimes, where you begin to laugh at your own jokes or stories.  Anyways, I began to laugh and laugh and pretty soon Tanna had started to laugh.  I had barely started telling her this story and already we were laughing.  Within a couple seconds I was laughing sooo hard that I could not speak anymore.  Needless to say, before I could even finish the story we were both laughing so hard we were in tears.  I thought it was so funny that we could laugh that hard with each other at 1:00 am.  I love my wife so much and I am so glad that we can laugh with each other like that.  It reminds me that we aren't just a spouse to each other, we are bestfriends.  I know that no matter what, we can talk about anything at any time.  I pray that we can keep this friendship for our whole life and that we can still laugh with each other when we are old.  She is the best wife, mom, friend, person, etc..  I hope everyone can find a partner that makes them as happy as Tanna has made me.

In my Sports Psychology class today, we read a short article by Charles Swindoll called, "Attitude".   I enjoyed it and I plan on stapling this on my mirror or somewhere I will see it everyday because I feel like it really gives us a perspective on our attitude.  It reminds us that our attitude is very important in every aspect of our lives, and that no matter what happens to us, we are responsible to how we react to those circumstances... anyways... here it is....

ATTITUDE

by: Charles Swindoll

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.
The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

Beautiful Story

As I was searching the local news sites today, I came across a familiar face. One of Matt's life-long friends, Joey Gardner, was featured in a beautiful story and I can't help but share it. When Joey left for Iraq last January, his dog happened to leave too. And when he returned just a few weeks ago, so did his dog. What a God-thing! Such a great story to witness!

Finlee's 1st Birthday Photo Card

I've been working on cards for Finlee's 1st Birthday to show pictures of her around her first birthday and to show how much she has grown. I wanted to share, although most of you who read my blog have probably already seen them.

Here it is! Enjoy her many facial expressions!

Perfectly Said...

I love reading blogs of fellow bloggers. I follow a lot of bloggers to get inspired and encouraged. Well, today, I came across a new blog and she had posted something that I couldn't have said better myself. I thought I would share it.

Here's what she said:

I am a stay at home mom.

And some days are tough.
So, I must rely on God to get me through them.
I am in need of a change.
Now, don’t get me wrong.

I love my children.
I love my life.
But . . . somedays.

Somedays I just don’t want to do it anymore.
I long to do something . . .

. . . anything . . .

else.

Give me a uniform, I’ll go flip burgers.
Give me a broom, I’ll go clean offices.
Give me a hairnet, I’ll cook some food.
Just, please.

Please.
Give me change.
I am tired of cleaning a house that is always messy.

I am bored of reading books that have already been read.
I am sick of doing laundry everyday in a house where there is always more laundry to be done.
I am ready for a break.
A break from my toast making, dishes washing, sippy cup filling, diaper changing, time-out monitoring, nose-wiping, ABC tutoring, and toy organizing life.
I believe that I might be in a funk.

Yesterday, I sat downstairs and tried to eat breakfast and read The Pioneer Woman’s blog.

For 10 minutes.

And in that 10 minutes, my two boys, as precious as they are, moved two suitcases into the bathroom, turned on the tv to a fuzzy channel, turned on two ceiling fans, lovingly placed 4.5 pairs of earrings in the hallway, started running the bath water, and took the lid off of my favorite chapstick and threw it into the tub.

10 minutes.

Was that too much to ask?
Ooooh.
There are days where I cannot WAIT for them to all grow up!

Oh, yes.

I will drop them all off at school. I will come home and eat breakfast for 15 minutes while reading The Pioneer Woman’s blog.
Then I will clean my house and it will STAY clean.
I will catch up on the laundry.
I will grocery shop in peace.
I will have childfree coffee dates with friends.
I will not have snot on my jacket when I go to the store.
I will not have matchbox cars in my pockets and crackers in my purse.
I will super fit because I will have had time to exercise.
I will read.
I will volunteer.
I will have a great and grand life.
And then I will come home and sit in my clean, yet quiet house.

And I will cry.

I will cry because my babies are all grown up and I miss them.

Motherhood.
It’s a quandary, I tell ya.

Ah . . .

Such is life.

“Unless the Lord builds a house, its builders labor in vain . . . In vain you rise early and stay up late . . . Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him.”
Psalms 127

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea . . . Be still and know that I am God.”
Psalms 46

Well said, right? I feel the same way on certain days. But atleast I'm not alone and tomorrow is always a new day. A new day to love my beautiful blessings that God has allowed me to raise. But maybe, just maybe I've inspiried my husband enough to send me on a vacation. :)
But if not, I still have my amazing family every new day!

If you're a stay-at-home Mom or a mom at all, I suggest you read her blog to atleast get a good laugh or even be inspired. (Click on "blog" to visit her blog.)

Weekly Recipe

Another easy, favorite, recipe!

Fried Spaghetti

Chicken breasts, thawed and diced (I use one chicken breast for each person eating.)
Spaghetti noodles (A handful for each person eating.)
Cabbage-diced and shredded (I use the bagged cole slaw or cabbage that is buy the shredded lettuce that you buy in the bag-but only buy  the cabbage, not the one with the carrots and extras.)
Soy Sauce

Boil your spaghetti noodles until they are cooked. Fry your diced chicken in a large pan. Top the chicken with a squirt of Soy Sauce after it is cooked. Drain your spaghetti noodles. Add your noodles and cabbage to your chicken and mix well. Squirt around 1 cup of Soy Sauce to the mixture and heat and mix well. Yummy!

Enjoy!
