Jaelyn has been making us laugh again with all of the funny things she has said lately. I had to take the time to write them down so I can look back at a few of the funny or sweet things she has said throughout her childhood. Here we go!
Jaelyn and I have many conversations about Logan and Allison. We have always called Logan, "Uncle Logan" or "Logie Bear" (kind of like Yogi Bear) and Allison has always just been Allison. When they became a part of our conversation the other day, Jaelyn said, "Uncle Logan is my favorite uncle and Allison is my favorite grandma!". I'm not sure why Allison had to be the grandma but it was sure funny! :)
Jaelyn, Finlee, and I have been sick this week. Last night, our whole family went to bed early. After tucking Jaelyn into her bed I said, "Good night, sweet girl." She said goodnight back to me and then a few minutes later piped up and said to me, "Feel better!!" It was so sweet of her and made my heart melt. She really is a sweet girl.
Since we have been sick this week, we haven't been sleeping well at night. Jaelyn crawled into our bed one night and while awake in the middle of the night she told me about her dream. She said in her dream that she had built a castle. It had a carpet in the hallway, two chairs, and two doors. I asked her if the castle had a princess and she said, "It did have a princess but not a prince. Maybe next time!". I thought it was so neat that she was telling me about a dream that she had.
My dad (Papa Roy to the girls) bought an airplane recently and I was telling Jaelyn about it. She told me that he was going to fly up really high in the sky. She said that my dad's horse, Jubel, would be flying with him.. I explained to her that Jubel probably wouldn't fit in the plane. She looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Not in the plane, by the plane, like a unicorn!" I love the imaginations of four-year-olds!
Matt's dad, Loren (known as "Papa" to our girls), was sick a few weeks back. We weren't sure what was going on with him. I had explained to Jaelyn that we needed to pray for Papa because he was really sick. When they found out he had a gastric ulcer in his stomach, I was excited to tell Jaelyn the "good news" that Papa's belly would be all better soon! (I say good news because it was good news compared to what the alternative would have been.) She could sense my excitement and said to me in a very happy voice, "You mean his big belly? I love his big belly!" This is funny in our family because we are always giving Loren a hard time because of his round belly. I'm afraid we won't be able to joke about this anymore because since finding out his health problem, he is losing so much weight!
Before naptime the other day, Jaelyn and I said her prayers. I prayed for her first and then she mentioned that she wanted to pray. She said, "Thank you for mommy and daddy and my green teddy and 'far-away grandma' and the water fountain. Amen!" Far-away grandma happens to be my grandma (who we were going to see the next day). My grandma has a water dispenser and when were at my grandma's house, the girls love to get their own water! I thought it was cute that she was thanking God for my grandma's water dispenser.
Finlee has started to form sentences really well. I wanted to mention a few cute and funny things that she says as well.
I have no idea where she learned it but occasionally Finlee will stick out her stomach, hold it tight, strain or grunt, and say "Gotta poop, gotta poop!". We always get a kick out of it because she thinks she's so cute and funny when she says it and she is!
I'm not sure why two-year-olds use potty talk a lot but Finlee seems to love the subject. My mother and father-in-law took Finlee and I out for supper one night. Afterwards we went to a hardware store and I needed to change Finlee's diaper before we left the store. She has only shown a little bit of interest in the potty but will only sit there for 15 seconds before getting interested in something else. As I was walking her to the potty, she was holding herself, while walking, saying, "I go potty, I go potty." I found this funny because I'm not even sure if she really understands the potty process. Three ladies outside of the bathroom thought it was the funniest and cutest thing ever. I agree. :)
Finlee's vocabulary has grown so much lately. She is forming sentences and using words that I am amazed she knows.
Both of our girls keep us laughing and smiling with what they have to say. I love listening to them learn how to talk and carry on conversations!
