Chaseton

Chaseton Matthew is here!
He was born July 7, 2011 at 10:20am. He weighed in at 7lbs, 11oz and was 20 1/4 inches long!
We're home, adjusting, and doing well.

Here's Chaseton:

At 6:15am Thursday morning, Matt and I headed to the hospital. My surgery was scheduled for 8:15am.

I ended up donating 15 knitted hats in Chaseton's name to the NICU at St. Francis Health Center.
They we're very thankful for my donation!

Favors for our visitors. Hershey's bars and kisses.

As soon as I arrived at the hospital, they monitored Chaseton and I and got us all prepared for surgery. Around 7:30, my nurse came in and said that my doctor was running behind and another mom-to-be might have to have an emergency c-section. I understood because I immediately knew how the other mom was feeling, seeing as how I was in her situation with Jaelyn just four short years ago. We waited patiently to see when our surgery would be. Soon after, our nurse came back to our room to let us know that my surgery wouldn't be until noon because my doctor would be doing three c-sections before mine. I wasn't so fond of my surgery not being until noon, but I knew that I would meet Chaseton some time during the day so I tried to keep an open mind. I was in the bathroom when my nurse stopped by again to inform us that we would be having a baby right away! My doctor changed her schedule and was there to do my surgery!

They took me to the operating room, did my spinal block, and laid me down. I was waiting for Matt to enter the room when I heard the doctor say, "I don't feel comfortable performing this surgery here." I had no idea what was going on. The anesthesia ladies told my doctor that she needed to hurry and make a decision because my spinal tap wasn't going to last very long. Long story short, they found a gnat in the room and had to start prepping their tools and myself from the very beginning. The only problem was, I had already had my spinal block and time was ticking. As soon as they got everything under control, they brought Matt into the room. By the end of my surgery, I could move my feet and feel a lot more than I should have.
But the end result was well worth it.

Welcome Chaseton:

Chaseton is such a good baby! He sleeps and eats so well.

We're resting and doing well at home. Recovery has been easier this time around and for that I am so thankful. We love having a little boy around!

Fourth of July

Our 4th of July celebration was pretty low-key this year. We normally venture out to the lake, enjoy BBQs and fireworks, and spend a lot of time with family and friends. Matt and I decided that since Chaseton's birthday is days away, we wanted to relax and spend time with our girls as a family, so we did! We had such a great, relaxing day!

We spent the morning playing outside and then hit up a local neighborhood parade.

Finlee waiting for the parade to start.

Jaelyn posed herself for this picture..such a character!

My creative one. She is always so intrigued by something!

My Finlee-Grace.

We enjoyed lunch and a little bit of shopping together then headed home to relax some more! We ended our evening playing outside and lighting a few firecrackers for the girls. It was a perfect day!

Jaelyn and her sparkler. She loves fireworks!

Finlee has come a long way since last year. She is very sensitive to loud noises and gets scared very easily. She did so great this year-she even did her own sparkler!

We hope you all had a great fourth of July!!

Dress-up

Playing dress-up is still our favorite evening activity around here. The girls are getting so creative and love to show Matt and I what they have come up with to wear. Its fun to watch them be silly together; we get so many laughs out of their many fashion shows!

Doesn't she look good?? :)

I love her smile!

Check out her high heels!

New Wheels

Jaelyn and Finlee's grandma and grandpa surprised them with a new Barbie Jeep this past week! Jaelyn has wanted a car like this for quite some time. It has provided tons of entertainment for them so far!

Finlee loves when Jaelyn gives her a ride all over the yard.

I was surprised at how fast Jaelyn learned how to navigate the car. I only had to help her a few times before she learned how to steer, reverse, and drive all over the yard by herself.

Even Finlee drives it by herself!

Thank you, Grandma and Grandpa Pollock, for our new ride!!

Sweet Sisters

There are a lot of days when the girls fight and don't get along. But there are many more days when they are so sweet to each other, love to play with each other, and can't get enough of each other. I decided I better capture this moment so I can savor it forever! :)
