Our First Family Vacation: Day 3 & 4

The next morning, we awoke to these creatures outside of our cabin:
(Something I'm sure The Lumberjack's Wife sees almost everyday out in Ruralville. :) )

Deer.

We also saw a few of these:

Buffalo. They act like they run the place. Maybe because they do.
Fun Fact: More people get attacked by buffalo than bears in Yellowstone.

And we even saw a few of these:

Elk, I believe.

Maybe this sign really was necessary. For awhile there, we thought maybe the whole "wildlife on road" thing was just a play on getting us there. Saturday really was a day for wildlife! It was really cool to get to see "wild" animals that we don't normally see. We never did see a bear, though!

After driving back through Yellowstone, we drove to Cody, Wyoming. They happened to be having a small Fall Festival in Cody that day so we stopped and checked it out for the girls.

Small horses. Finlee loved them because they were just her size.
Apparently she thought they needed a few kisses.

Jaelyn playing on the air obstacle course..I love my girl!

They even gave pony rides.

And we even painted a pumpkin. :)

The whole reason we went to Cody was to check out the Buffalo Bill museum.Since Matt is a history buff, this was what he looked forward to the most...and he loved it!

Finlee sitting on the saddle at the museum.

Matt has even taught Jaelyn all about Buffalo Bill.
And I'm sad to say that my three-year-old knows more about Buffalo Bill than I do.

After the museum, we headed back to my dads house and made sure to enjoy some beautiful scenery along the way.

Grand Tetons. Do you know how they got their name? Look it up...I'm too embarassed to say. Atleast I learned something while on vacation...even if it was how the Grand Teton mountains got their name.
They sure are beautiful, nonetheless.

Day 4

On this day, we decided to just hang out at my dads because sadly, we had to head home that afternoon since it was such a long drive.

The girls with Daisy the dog.

My dad and his bestfriend.

Before we headed home, we went swimming at the pool. The girls loved it, too.

We had such a good trip and were so sad to go back home. Vacation time always goes so fast. Thanks to my dad, grandma, and aunt we were able to go and we couldn't be more grateful to get to share these experiences as a family and with my dad. It was definitely the best first family vacation that we could have ever had!

Our First Family Vacation: Day 2

The next morning, we woke up to these furry creatures right outside of the kitchen window:

Antelope. They're everywhere out there. Infact, when you want to see other wildlife so badly,
you kind of get sick of seeing them.
We got ready for the day, loaded up the truck, and began the long drive to and through Jackson Hole and Yellowstone. And as we were pulling away from my dad's house, we saw more antelope.

The girls did great in the car.
There are so many pretty things to see while you're driving that it makes the trip seem much shorter.

Once we arrived in Yellowstone, we mainly just drove through looking at all of the beautiful sights and keeping our eyes open for wildlife!

A beautiful waterfall in Yellowstone National Park.

All four of us.

We stopped for a picnic by the lake.

Papa and the girls.

Matt and his girls.

Jaelyn by the sign to another waterfall that we visited.

We made our way to Old Faithful while we drove and finally made it!

We only had to wait for just a little bit before Old Faithful went off.
It gave us just enough time to visit their museum and to get a nice icecream treat!

Jaelyn comparing her hand to the sizes of different animal tracks!

We made our way back through the mountains to a cabin that we stayed in for the night!
It was in the woods and a beautiful place to stay!

Papa and Jaelyn waiting at the Lodge for dinner!

After dinner, we went back to the cabin and headed to bed.
It was a long day and we had another long day ahead of us!

More of our vacation to come!

Our First Family Vacation: Day 1

Matt, Jaelyn, Finlee, and I were very blessed to get to travel to Wyoming for our first ever family vacation. My dad lives there and we couldn't wait any longer to visit! Last Wednesday afternoon, we loaded up our little car and began our long trip. We made it all the way to Cheyenne, Wyoming where we stayed the night. Jaelyn now has a love for "Hotel 6". Even though it's Motel 6, she screams "Hotel 6" everytime we drive past one.
The next morning (Thursday), Matt awoke everyone out of excitement bright and early in the morning and we began the rest of our trek towards my dad's house. We made it just in time for lunch! After settling in and a quick lunch at a yummy Chinese restaurant, we headed to a local Mountain Man museum right there in town.

Yeehaw!
The girls sitting on saddles in the museum play area.

After visiting the museum, we started our long drive up the mountains. My favorite part about visiting Wyoming this time of year was definitely the scenery and all of the colors...it was absolutely beautiful there.

We drove and drove up the mountains, randomly stopping to take pictures and to check out the gorgeous scenery.

Papa (my dad) and Jaelyn.

Matt and the girls.

This next part was one of my most favorite parts of our trip. My dad took us to a spot in the mountains to feed chipmunks. They were so gentle and all around us. They came right up to you to eat out of your hand. Matt, my dad, and the girls fed them while I took pictures.

Even Finlee fed them!

Jaelyn loved feeding the chipmunks..she even wanted to pick them up
and hold them but they were too quick and squirmy.

The girls posing for a quick picture!

Proof that I was there, too!

After checking out the mountain side, we headed back down the mountain for a fried chicken picnic by the lake. My dad and Matt took the canoe out for some fishing while the girls played by the water and I took some pictures...and feared a bear would come out of the trees and eat me! :)

It was Matt's first time out in a canoe!

It was so peaceful out there!

My little explorer.

And my little Finlee-girl.

Then we headed home to get some rest before we really began our vacation!

Both of the girls were so good on our trip! It was such a long drive and they did great! All of our days were packed full of activites and fun so be looking for the rest of our vacation to be posted soon!
